Genthelvite Visible Spectra (380 - 1100 nm)
Genthelvite, Be3Zn4(SiO4)3S,
would be colorless if it had the ideal formula.
- Gehthelvite
GRR 2791 spectrum, 0.345 mm. This is blue genthelvite
from the El Criollo Mine, Cordoba, Argentina. Data
File . The color comes from Co2+. The spectrum also shows weak features from Fe and possible Mn2+.
- Gehthelvite CIT
9305 spectrum, 0.041 mm thick; VIS
region, plotted as 0.5 mm thick; This is a pink crystal
from Diamond Hill, Rhode Island, USA. The visible region spectrum was taken on a 0.342 mm thick slab
and plotted as 0.5 mm. The near-IR spectrum arises from Fe2+ is a four-coordinated tetrahedral site. Data Files thin ; thick
