At the 2002 Tuscon, Arizona, mineral show, crystals of a low-sodium content tourmaline were being sold under the tentative identification of rossmanite. They are reportedly available in abundance, but are turbid. Our SEM-EDS and flame analyses of the crystal illustrated found only aluminosilicate clay minerals and no boron, thus ruling out the possiblity that the crystal currently is a member of the tourmaline group.
